For generations, women in India have passed down DIY skin care secrets. Vouge magazine interviewed Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra about her deep rooted skin care traditions. Chopra told Vogue:
This has been taught to us by our mums and grandmums.
Indian women traditionally use natural beauty remedies, and as a result have remarkable skin. In this video, Chopra goes on to teach us three different DIY skin care treatments. All of the ingredients are readily available. I have created an ingredient list for you below with links to products I personally love, or consequently ones that you may need assistance in finding. Enjoy!
Lip Scrub Ingredients and Directions
Mix ingredients together and apply.
Body Scrub Ingredients and Directions
- 1 cup gram flour
- yogurt – plain, full fat
- milk (use to thin if mixture becomes too thick)
- sandalwood powder
- turmeric (Be careful not to use too much or it will turn your skin yellow.)
First, mix ingredients together. Then, massage onto entire body (you may want to test an area on your hand initially). Let it dry. Then scrub it off dry with just your finger tips. Finally, shower.
Scalp Treatment Ingredients and Directions
- full fat yogurt
- 1 teaspoon of honey (buy local and raw, if possible)
- 1 egg
Excellent for scalps that are extremely dry and contain dandruff. Mix all ingredients together. Then, massage into dry scalp. Let it sit for awhile. Finally, wash your hair with warm water or baby shampoo.
